More about my background
I’m Roberta Peters, and I began Birch Hill Interiors because of my life-long passion for design and a heart for service.
Based in the Twin Cities area of Minnesota, I am a professional home stager and redesigner, certified through Home Staging Resources and Staging Studio—two training programs accredited by the Real Estate Staging Association. I am also a certified Psychological Color Expert™, trained by the internationally acclaimed residential color and home staging expert, Kristie Barnett, The Decorologist®. This certification showcases my mastery in specifying interior paint colors for residential spaces. Since 2018, I have been an active member of both the National and Minneapolis chapters of the Real Estate Staging Association, proudly serving on the boards of directors in 2020, 2023, and 2024.
My journey in design has always been driven by a deep love for creating beautiful spaces and a desire to assist clients in loving their homes. Before diving into home staging and redesign, I earned an art degree and spent over 30 years as a graphic designer for various companies in Minneapolis-St. Paul, as well as freelancing. My work involved creating advertising, marketing, and communications, and even art-directing photo shoots, including staging sets for The Family Handyman magazine. Through these experiences, I honed essential skills such as active listening, problem-solving, and executing good design.
In addition to my professional journey, I pursued further education in landscape design and floral design, which not only enriched my career but also complemented my personal hobby of gardening.
A couple of significant life experiences nudged me to broaden my career into home styling. My husband and I enjoyed renovating our own bungalow in the Twin Cities and a rural farmhouse along the Great Mississippi River Road. Additionally, after helping our parents transition to assisted living communities by downsizing and staging their homes for sale, I discovered my aptitude for this work. I found immense satisfaction in creating welcoming spaces in their new apartments, turning them into cozy homes filled with cherished family treasures.
I’m ready to put good design to work for you too, whether to help you sell your home or love the one you’re in.
The name Birch Hill holds a special place in my heart. It all started with a memorable walk with my dad through the woods across from our family farm, where I grew up. We came upon a beautiful grove of birch trees that he had named Birch Hill years before. I’ll never forget that moment.
