Twin Cities
interior design.

Beautiful and livable space grounded for how you actually live.

I don’t even know where to start.

“I don’t even know where to start.”

You don’t have to know what you want. You just need to know that you want help, or that you need it. That’s enough to begin. The style questionnaire, the conversation at your consultation, the back and forth as we go, that’s exactly how we get from “I don’t know” to a room you love. You don’t have to have answers. You just have to reach out.

CONSULTATION Up to two hours – $300

Every great design project starts with active listening. Before I arrive at your home, you’ll receive a style questionnaire through my design platform. Complete it at your convenience and send it back when you’re ready. Your answers help me understand everything that matters: the rooms you want to focus on, what’s staying, what’s new, your budget, timeline, style preferences, and how you actually live in your space.

When we meet, we walk through your rooms together, talk through what’s working and what isn’t, and discuss real solutions. By the end of our consultation most clients have a clear sense of how they’d like to move forward. Afterward you’ll receive a written summary of our consultation along with proposed services and investment details.

DESIGN CONCEPT AND PLAN Per room – $400

Once you’re ready to move forward, I translate our consultation into a detailed, room-by-room design plan that includes a floor plan and design board featuring actual furniture, flooring, lighting, and décor recommendations with direct links to retailers. One revision is included. Your completed plan is delivered digitally so you can reference it anytime. Contractor referrals to my network of vetted Twin Cities tradespeople are also available as needed.

Furniture and Décor Sourcing – $100/hour

Rather than spending hours searching on your own, let me do the shopping for you, or with you. I know where to shop, what to look for, and how to find pieces that work beautifully together within your budget.

On-Site Installation and Styling – $100/hour

When your furnishings arrive, I can be there to bring it all together, placing rugs, arranging furniture, hanging drapes and wall art, and styling décor on built-ins and tabletops. There’s no substitute for having a designer on-site when the pieces finally come together. Styling only, without new purchases, is also available as a standalone service.

“Roberta helped us with the daunting task of redecorating following a full remodel of our main living areas. She provided valuable input on paint colors, furniture, light fixtures all the way down to throw pillows. She worked around existing decor we wanted to keep and found new items that tied in with the existing. I definitely recommend working with her!”

Andrea, Inver Grove Heights

“We worked with Roberta in moving from our home of 20 years to a condo in downtown Minneapolis. Roberta helped us to envision the design for our bedroom, living room and den and to choose furniture fabrics and two rugs. She helped us to figure out where to place our art after the new furniture came.

That’s WHAT Roberta did, but the HOW is really why we gave her a 5-star review. At the beginning, when it was easy to get overwhelmed by how many items we needed to purchase, she helped us to break the design process into phases and prioritize what needed to get done first, then next, etc. She was friendly, relaxed and low-key but also willing to give us a strong recommendation about a few key things (e.g., where to place the TV and our buffet). She was always responsive to email and texts and willing to do whatever she could to make our home a beautiful, functional place. A true professional!”

Gayle, Minneapolis

“Working with Roberta has been a true pleasure. She listened to what I wanted and gave me some great choices. My home is so beautiful because of it! I would refer Roberta to anyone as she did an outstanding job! Thank you so much Roberta and Birch Hill Interiors!”

Kris, Inver Grove Heights

“I have sought out and relied on Roberta’s advice on home décor for years. She has excellent taste, and I trust her to help me choose just the right paint colors, furniture and accents. She brings her trained artist’s/designer’s eye to the job as well as a practical approach that works with your budget and current furnishings. She’s organized, reliable, detail-oriented, friendly, and she really cares about and always comes through for her clients. A joy to work with!”

Kathy, Bloomington

“Roberta listened to exactly what I wanted and was spot on with her choices. It was so much fun going through this journey with her. I absolutely love my living and dining room — so much so that I’m having her help me redecorate my bedroom!”

Janene, Chanhassen

“Roberta was tremendously helpful when I was moving into my new townhouse. She quickly evaluated each room’s function, flow, and focal point, and arranged furniture to complement each space as well as meet my needs. Not only did she incorporate my existing furniture and accessories but made recommendations for some new pieces based on the look and feel I wanted. I love my new home.”

Mari, Osceola

“I had Roberta to my home to do some remodeling of my living room that had two large old leather couches, some broken end tables and two large leather chairs in it. it looked like a brown blob of a room ugggg. She made suggestions and shopped for a new smaller more modern leather couch w/matching chair and ottoman along with a slide out coffee table and another swivel chair. Everything looked great, balanced and provided adequate and useful seating. She moved the tv and my large, mounted Wahoo, so it all looked like it fit in the space and didn’t look like a college dorm leftover room. I would have her back in a minute to help me with any other design and decorating needs. She works within your budget and helps you find your unique style.”

Leeann, New Hope

Questions people ask me.

A few things homeowners often want to know before reaching out.

My process starts with an in-home consultation to learn about your design goals, lifestyle and preferred design styles, budget, and timeline. From there, you can choose from services including but not limited to floor planning, design solutions, and sourcing of furniture, lighting, flooring, window treatments, and other decor items.

You can avoid costly mistakes by working with a designer upfront rather than during a re-do that didn’t work out the way you hoped. I also pass my trade discounts on to my clients whenever possible.

Very often you will receive your initial, in-home consultation within a week or two of your first contact with Birch Hill Interiors. Design solutions will be provided within the following week. The length of the whole process is more dependent on the homeowner’s response time in providing feedback.

Yes. Birch Hill Interiors belongs to the Real Estate Staging Association which has about 40 local members who are designers as well as stagers. We often refer contractors to each other.

A design style questionnaire is emailed to you before your initial consultation which will help you define one or more styles that you prefer. Sometimes homeowners think they like one style and along the way, they learn that their preferences have actually evolved. It’s a process.

Let's have a conversation.
